Colin Stetson - New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light (2013)

Colin Stetson is a experimental full body saxophone player. his multiple microphone solo recordings give this instrument texture, grit, rhythm, and space be a true musical experience.Everything is recorded with no overdubs with is something i didn't completely believe until i saw him live. New History Warfare Vol. 3 doesn't grab me as much as Vol. 2 but it does feel like a continuation. The guest vocals of Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) gets to be a little to much for me as his vocal melody is so similar to colins but just that bit more whiny, but if you are a big fan of the guy you'll love it. I personally prefer the tracks with him.

Tracklist
1. And In Truth
2. Hunted
3. High Above A Grey Green Sea
4. In Mirrors
5. Brute
6. Among The Sef
7. Who The Waves Are Roaring For
8. To See More Light

Tracks on this album according to the liner notes have been recorded in one take with no overdubs or looping with 24 different microphone positions. beautifully organic psychedelic percussive avant-garde jazz. with guests Laurie Anderson and Shara worden. New History Warfare Vol.2: Judges possibly one of the most mind boggling releases of 2011. fucking stunning!
